Tuesday 22 December, 7:30 pm UK.The 4th century CE synagogue of Apamea in Syria remained unknown until site excavations in 1934. Roman tolernace turned into Byzantine intolerance when it was intentionally destroyed and its mosaic floor divided up between Damascus and Brussels.

Archaeologist and anthropologist Adam Blitz, an expert on late antique diaspora synagogues, has managed to piece together the beautiful mosaic floor using digital technology. Join Adam for a virtual tour of the reconstructed synagogue.
